Sony macht sich keine Sorgen darüber, PS5-Benutzer an den PC zu verlieren

Sony-Führungskräfte sagten, dass das Unternehmen nicht davon ausgeht, dass ein erhebliches Risiko besteht, dass eine große Anzahl von PS5-Benutzern gegenüber der PC-Plattform verlieren. Diese Aussage ergibt sich aus einem aktuellen Überblick darüber, wie PC-Gaming in die Verlagsstrategie von Sony einfließt.

Sony begann im Jahr 2020 mit der Portierung seiner Erstanbieter-Spiele auf die PC-Plattform, und das erste Spiel war „Horizon: Zero Dawn“. Seitdem hat Sony seine Bemühungen in diesem Bereich weiter intensiviert, insbesondere nach der Übernahme des PC-Portierungsgiganten Nixxes im Jahr 2021.

Während die Portierung von PlayStation-exklusiven Spielen auf die PC-Plattform die Zielgruppe und das Umsatzpotenzial des Spiels erweitern kann, schwächt es theoretisch auch das Alleinstellungsmerkmal der Sony-Hardware. In Wirklichkeit macht sich der Gaming-Riese jedoch keine allzu großen Sorgen über den Verlust von PS5-Nutzern an die PC-Plattform. Ein Unternehmensvertreter machte während einer Frage-und-Antwort-Runde mit Investoren Ende 2024 deutlich: „Was den Nutzerverlust an die PC-Plattform angeht, Wir haben keine Bestätigung dafür, dass ein solcher Trend auftritt, und er wird derzeit nicht als erhebliches Risiko angesehen

PS5-Verkäufe scheinen von der PC-Portierungsstrategie von Sony nicht betroffen zu sein

Die Ansicht von Sony deckt sich mit der jüngsten Leistung im Hardwarebereich. Die neuesten offiziellen PS5-Verkaufsdaten zeigen, dass das Unternehmen bis November 2024 65,5 Millionen PS5-Konsolen verkauft hat. Das entspricht in etwa den mehr als 73 Millionen verkauften PS4-Einheiten in den ersten vier Jahren auf dem Markt. Der geringe Umsatzunterschied zwischen den beiden Konsolen lässt sich leichter durch die durch die Epidemie verursachten Versorgungsengpässe bei der PS5 erklären als durch das Fehlen permanenter Exklusivspiele auf der Konsole. Da die Konsolenverkäufe von Sony über Generationen hinweg stabil geblieben sind, überrascht es nicht, dass das Unternehmen davon ausgeht, dass der PC-Anschluss nur minimale Auswirkungen auf das Gesamtwertversprechen der PS5 haben wird.

In Bezug auf den Benutzerverlust auf der PC-Plattform haben wir weder bestätigt, dass ein solcher Trend auftritt, noch betrachten wir dies derzeit als erhebliches Risiko.

Sony wird seine PC-Portierungsbemühungen voraussichtlich nicht nur fortsetzen, sondern dies möglicherweise auch intensiver tun. Im Jahr 2024 sagte Sony-Präsident Takuma Toga, dass das Unternehmen plant, in Bezug auf die PlayStation-PC-Portierung „aktiver“ zu werden, was bedeutet, dass die Veröffentlichungszeitlücke zwischen der PS5- und der Steam-Version verkürzt wird. Um diesen Strategiewechsel widerzuspiegeln, ist die Veröffentlichung von Marvel's Spider-Man 2 für den PC am 30. Januar geplant, nur 15 Monate nach der ursprünglichen Veröffentlichung. Das vorherige Spiel der Insomniac-Reihe, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, war mehr als zwei Jahre lang exklusiv für PlayStation erhältlich.

Zusätzlich zu Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 können sich PC-Spieler diesen Monat auch auf eine weitere bestehende PlayStation-Exklusivität freuen, denn Final Fantasy 7: Rebirth soll am 23. Januar auf Steam erscheinen. Sony hat noch eine Reihe hochkarätiger PS5-Exklusivtitel im Angebot, die noch für den PC angekündigt werden müssen, darunter Gran Turismo 7, Rise of Ronin, Star Blade und Demon's Souls Remastered.
