Xbox Games Series: A Tier List Ranking

After a robust Xbox Developer Direct to start 2025, the future looks bright for Microsoft and its impressive lineup of first-party studios. The question on everyone's mind is: which Xbox game series gets you the most excited? Which one provided you with the most enjoyment during the golden era of the Xbox 360? Or, if you've never owned an Xbox console, which series are you eagerly anticipating on other platforms like PlayStation, as Microsoft continues its strategy of expanding its library to a global audience?

With Microsoft's acquisitions of both Bethesda and Activision Blizzard, the pool of legendary game series is vast. This tier list includes series from Xbox, Bethesda, and Activision Blizzard, provided they have more than one entry—sorry, MachineGames and Indiana Jones fans, we need a sequel first! Note that this isn't an exhaustive list of all Xbox game series, but rather a selection based on current relevance and historical impact. Below is my personal tier list, reflecting my favorite experiences over the years:

Doom is an easy S-tier choice for me; the recent entries are among my favorite first-person shooters, and I'm thrilled to see that Doom: The Dark Ages suggests id Software is continuing its stellar performance. Forza Horizon also earns a spot in the S tier, as these games, aside from Burnout 3 and Burnout Revenge, are the best racing games I've ever played. Placing Halo in the A tier might surprise some, but despite the brilliance of Halo 2 and 3 as campaign shooters, recent inconsistencies prevent it from reaching the top tier. I'm also more of a Fallout enthusiast than an Elder Scrolls one—power armor trumps dragons for me, any day!
