Summary

  • Microsoft announces new games coming to Xbox Game Pass in early January 2025, including Road 96, My Time at Sandrock, and Diablo.
  • Six games will be leaving the service this month, including Exoprimal and Those Who Remain.

Microsoft has kicked off 2025 with an exciting announcement for Xbox Game Pass subscribers, revealing the first batch of new games joining the service in January. While leaks and rumors had already set expectations, the official lineup confirms a thrilling start to the year for gamers. Just one week into 2025, and the future looks bright for Xbox Game Pass members.

This isn't the first announcement for Xbox Game Pass in 2025. Microsoft previously detailed significant changes to the service, including new age restrictions and modifications to the rewards system. These updates are now in effect, aligning perfectly with the introduction of the new games.

On January 7, 2025, Microsoft unveiled seven new titles coming to Xbox Game Pass via the official Xbox blog. The choice-driven game Road 96, which was previously available on the platform until June 2023, is now back and accessible across all Game Pass tiers, including PC Game Pass. The rest of the January lineup will roll out later in the month, with most titles arriving on January 8 and two on January 14.

New Games on Xbox Game Pass for January 2025

  • Road 96, available January 7
  • Lightyear Frontier (Preview), available January 8
  • My Time at Sandrock, available January 8
  • Robin Hood – Sherwood Builders, available January 8
  • Rolling Hills, available January 8
  • UFC 5, available January 14

Rumors about Diablo and UFC 5 joining Xbox Game Pass have been confirmed, with specific dates now set. However, not all subscribers will have access to these titles. Diablo is exclusive to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass users, while UFC 5 is limited to Ultimate subscribers. The rest of the lineup, including the sci-fi Lightyear Frontier, which is in early access, is available with a Standard subscription.

Starting January 7, new Game Pass Ultimate perks are also available, featuring a weapon charm for Apex Legends and various DLC packs for First Descendant, Vigor, and Metaball. Alongside the new additions, Microsoft has confirmed six games will be departing Xbox Game Pass on January 15:

  • Common'hood
  • Escape Academy
  • Exoprimal
  • Figment
  • Insurgency Sandstorm
  • Those Who Remain

These announcements cover only the first half of January, so Xbox fans should stay tuned for more updates. The next lineup reveal for the second half of January 2025 and beyond is expected soon.
