Xbox Developer Direct 2025: January 23rd Showcase Announced

Microsoft has revealed the date for its next Xbox Developer Direct: January 23rd, 2025. This marks the third annual event, kicking off the year's Xbox game reveals. The first Developer Direct debuted in January 2023, followed by a second in January 2024, establishing a clear annual tradition.

The 2025 showcase is scheduled for 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm GMT and will be streamed on YouTube and Twitch. While initially rumored for January 9th, the official announcement confirms the later date.

Confirmed Games for Xbox Developer Direct 2025:

  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn-based RPG from Sandfall Interactive, targeting a 2025 release and confirmed for Xbox Game Pass on day one.
  • Doom: The Dark Ages: id Software's latest entry in the Doom franchise, initially unveiled in June 2024 and playable at QuakeCon 2024. A mid-2025 launch is currently speculated.
  • South of Midnight: A stylish action-adventure game from Compulsion Games (Contrast, We Happy Few), first announced in June 2023. A release date is expected at the Developer Direct.

Beyond these three confirmed titles, previous Developer Directs (lasting over 40 minutes each) have featured multiple games. The 2024 event showcased titles like Avowed, Ara: History Untold, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, and Visions of Mana. Expect the 2025 event to follow suit, possibly including unannounced surprises.
