The gaming world often sees projects attempting to capitalize on successful titles. However, Wukong Sun: Black Legend goes beyond mere inspiration, exhibiting significant similarities to Game Science's hit game. Its visual style, the protagonist wielding a staff, and the plot summary strongly resemble a direct copy.

Currently available for pre-order on the US eShop, the game's future is uncertain. Given the apparent plagiarism, Game Science could pursue a copyright infringement lawsuit, potentially leading to its removal from the platform.

Wukong Sun: Black Legend's description reads: “Embark on an epic journey to the West. Play as the immortal Wukong, the legendary Monkey King, fighting for order in a chaotic world filled with powerful monsters and deadly dangers. Explore a story inspired by Chinese mythology, featuring intense battles, breathtaking locations, and legendary enemies.”

In contrast, Black Myth: Wukong is a critically acclaimed epic adventure rooted in Chinese mythology. Remarkably, this RPG from a small Chinese studio achieved immense popularity, topping Steam charts. Black Myth: Wukong boasts exceptional detail, engaging gameplay, and challenging yet accessible combat. While incorporating elements of the Souls-like genre, its difficulty curve is surprisingly gentle for newcomers.

The combat system and progression are thoughtfully designed, avoiding the need for extensive guides while still encouraging strategic thinking. Visually, the battles are stunning, showcasing fluid animations. The game's greatest strengths lie in its captivating setting and visual design, immersing players in a breathtaking fantasy world with remarkable character design. Many gamers believe Black Myth: Wukong deserved a "Game of the Year 2024" nomination at The Game Awards.
