World of Warcraft Delays Plunderstorm Launch

World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm Event Delayed

Due to unforeseen technical difficulties, the highly anticipated return of World of Warcraft's Plunderstorm event has been postponed. While initially scheduled for January 14th, 2025, Blizzard has not yet provided a revised launch time.

Plunderstorm, a popular pirate-themed battle royale mode introduced during the Dragonflight expansion in 2024, was set to return with both original and new rewards. However, unexpected issues arose during the planned server maintenance, resulting in a delay beyond the initially extended eight-hour downtime.

Current Status:

  • Plunderstorm's launch is delayed indefinitely, though Blizzard aims for a release before the end of January 14th.
  • No new estimated launch time has been announced.

What Players Can Do While Waiting:

World of Warcraft's regular servers are back online. Players can occupy their time with various activities, including:

  • Completing Siren Isle weeklies.
  • Participating in the Turbulent Timeways event.
  • Engaging in other content within The War Within.

Potential Cause of the Delay:

The newly added features for this Plunderstorm iteration, such as the Plunderstore and an in-game event interface, are suspected to be contributing factors to the unforeseen technical problems.

Twitch Drops Still Active:

Despite the delay, the Plunderstorm Twitch Drops campaign remains active. Viewers can earn the Coward’s Azure Target back transmog by watching four hours of any World of Warcraft Twitch stream before February 4th at 10 AM PST. The streamer does not need to be playing Plunderstorm.

Players are encouraged to check official World of Warcraft channels for updates regarding Plunderstorm's launch.
