Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O is hitting Steam this winter! Read on to discover more about this exciting remaster of the classic Virtua Fighter 5.
For the first time ever, SEGA is bringing the beloved Virtua Fighter franchise to Steam, with Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O. This latest remaster builds upon the 18-year legacy of Virtua Fighter 5, promising a definitive experience. While a precise release date remains under wraps, SEGA confirms a winter launch.
SEGA proudly calls Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O the ultimate remaster. This claim is backed by the inclusion of rollback netcode for smooth online battles, even on less-than-ideal connections. Visually stunning, the game boasts 4K graphics, updated high-resolution textures, and a buttery-smooth 60fps framerate.
Classic modes like Rank Match, Arcade, Training, and Versus return, joined by exciting new additions. Create custom online tournaments and leagues with up to 16 players, or spectate matches to learn from the pros in the new Spectator Mode.
The YouTube trailer has generated overwhelmingly positive feedback, even among long-time fans. Many expressed their excitement for a PC release, with comments like, "Am I going to buy another copy of Virtua Fighter 5? You damn right!" However, the anticipation for a potential Virtua Fighter 6 remains strong, with one fan jokingly commenting, "Once the world is a radioactive wasteland with no internet after WW3, Sega will finally release VF6."
Following an earlier interview with VGC, many speculated that SEGA was developing Virtua Fighter 6. SEGA's global head of transmedia, Justin Scarpone, hinted at several legacy titles in development, including "another Virtua Fighter." However, the November 22nd Steam announcement of Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O, with its upgraded visuals, new modes, and rollback netcode, cleared up any confusion.
Originally launched on SEGA Lindbergh arcades in July 2006, and later ported to PS3 and Xbox 360 in 2007, Virtua Fighter 5 introduced the world to the Fifth World Fighting Tournament. The original game featured 17 fighters, a number expanded to 19 in later iterations, including Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O.
Since its debut, Virtua Fighter 5 has seen numerous updates and remasters, broadening its reach:
With its modernized visuals and features, Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O is a welcome return for fans of the series.
