"Tribe Nine Cancels After Just Three Months"

Author:Kristen Update:May 20,2025

It's rare for me to express true astonishment in writing, but I think I speak for most people when I say I was shocked to learn that Tribe Nine is set to be shuttered. According to a recent news post, the servers for this popular game will be shut off on November 27th, with any upcoming updates now cancelled and the game reaching its end of service (EOS).

This marks an acrimonious end for Tribe Nine, which just a couple of months ago celebrated over ten million downloads. Based on the anime series of the same name and featuring stunning art by Danganronpa veteran Rui Komatsuzaki, the game combined regular ARPG gameplay with the distinctive Xtreme Baseball boss battles that fans of the series will recognize.

Tribe Nine's unceremonious cancellation continues a troubling trend over the last few years, with many games being shut down within a year of their release. For fans of these games, it can seem disheartening to invest time and emotion, given the looming threat of an EOS announcement.

ytTribelessConsidering that Rui Komatsuzaki's art has also been well-received in Hundred Line -Last Defence Academy- on other platforms, there seems little reason why Tribe Nine would be cancelled on this service. However, being discontinued so soon after its launch could have negative repercussions for developer Akatsuki Games.

With another anime-based game, Kaiju No.8: The Game, on the horizon, Akatsuki Games is likely hoping to capitalize on the existing fanbase of that series. Yet, casual players might be wary of investing in another game from Akatsuki, given their recent track record. Either way, for fans of Tribe Nine, it's not exactly a happy Friday.

On a brighter note, there are still numerous excellent releases out there to keep you entertained. Why not check out our latest feature covering the top five new mobile games to try this week on mobile for some of our top picks?

In light of Tribe Nine's closure, Akatsuki Games has announced that paid Enigma Entities will be refunded, and in-game purchases will be halted to ensure a smooth transition for players.
