DC's Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow Commences Filming; First Look at Milly Alcock Revealed

Production has officially begun on DC's highly anticipated film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. DC Studios head James Gunn shared an exciting first look via Bluesky, showcasing Milly Alcock (House of the Dragon) in her Supergirl chair.

Gunn expressed his enthusiasm, confirming Craig Gillespie (Cruella, I, Tonya) as director, a fact previously reported last April. The film is a significant adaptation of Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira's acclaimed graphic novel. This standalone story centers on Ruthye Marye Knoll, an alien girl seeking Supergirl's aid in avenging her father's murder at the hands of the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills. The graphic novel earned a 2022 Eisner Award nomination for "Best Limited Series."

The cast includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem and Eve Ridley as Ruthye. Further casting announcements include David Krumholtz as Zor-El (Supergirl's father), Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother, and the previously announced Jason Momoa as Lobo.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow marks the second film in the rebooted DC Universe, following James Gunn's Superman slated for release this summer. Other projects in development include The Batman Part II (its connection to the Gunn-led universe remains unclear) and a rumored Clayface film from Mike Flanagan.
