Stellar Blade is Coming to PC in 2025: A PlayStation Exclusive Makes the Leap

Following its PlayStation exclusive launch in April, the action-packed sci-fi title Stellar Blade is officially heading to PC in 2025! This announcement follows earlier speculation and confirms SHIFT UP's plans to expand the game's reach.

The PC release, confirmed by SHIFT UP following their recent financial report, is driven by the rising popularity of PC gaming and the success of other high-profile PC titles. SHIFT UP cited the potential for strong performance on platforms like Steam, mirroring the success of games such as Black Myth: Wukong.

While a specific release date is yet to be announced, SHIFT UP's strategy focuses on maintaining the game's momentum until the PC launch. This includes the upcoming November 20th release of a collaboration DLC with NieR: Automata and the much-requested Photo Mode, along with continued marketing efforts.

The move to PC places Stellar Blade alongside other PlayStation exclusives making their way to the platform, a trend that has broadened the audience for titles like God of War Ragnarök and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. However, this trend has also raised concerns.

As a Sony Interactive Entertainment published title, and with SHIFT UP's second-party status with Sony, the possibility of requiring players to link their Steam accounts to PlayStation Network (PSN) accounts looms. This would unfortunately exclude players in regions without PSN access from enjoying the PC version. Sony's stated rationale centers on ensuring the "safe" enjoyment of its live-service games, although this justification remains debated, particularly concerning single-player titles.

Whether a PSN account will be mandatory for PC players remains to be seen. Since SHIFT UP retains ownership of the IP, this requirement isn't guaranteed. However, such a requirement could significantly impact PC sales, potentially hindering SHIFT UP's goal of surpassing console sales.
