Stellar Blade PC Updates

SHIFT UP Addressed DRM Concerns

As the release of Stellar Blade on PC approaches, developer SHIFT UP has taken steps to address fan concerns surrounding the game's use of Denuvo, a digital rights management (DRM) system. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) dated May 17, SHIFT UP assured fans that the DRM has been "hard tuned to maintain the same average frame rate, with even higher minimum frames in some cases."

DRM systems like Denuvo are employed to prevent unauthorized copying and distribution of games, but they have sparked controversy due to potential impacts on game performance. SHIFT UP shared detailed performance test results, showing negligible differences in average, minimum, maximum, 1% low, and 0.1% low framerates with and without DRM.

Moreover, Stellar Blade fully supports modding without any restrictions, a significant factor for games with DRM. While fans commend SHIFT UP's transparency, many still wish for the game to be completely free of Denuvo to enhance its accessibility.

Region Lock Issues

Another pressing issue for Stellar Blade's PC release is the region lock related to PlayStation Network (PSN) restrictions. Despite Stellar Blade not requiring a PSN connection, over 130 countries without PSN support may face access issues.

SHIFT UP is actively "discussing the region lock issue with the publisher and are doing our best to resolve most of it as soon as possible." They have committed to ensuring that both the PC and PS5 versions of the game will have identical content, promising that "early buyers are never at a disadvantage through future updates."

While fans appreciate the efforts to address these concerns, the preference remains for a game free of DRM and PSN restrictions. Stellar Blade is slated for release on PC via Steam on June 11. For the latest updates on the game, keep an eye on our articles below!
