Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Reveals Another New Character

Aspyr's upcoming release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles features a surprising playable character: Jar Jar Binks. A new trailer showcases Binks wielding a large staff in action-packed gameplay.

This isn't the only addition to the original 2000 release. Aspyr is significantly expanding the roster of playable characters, capitalizing on the nostalgia of the original game while adding new content. Beyond lightsaber color customization and cheat code support, ten new playable characters have been revealed, with more promised.

Jar Jar Binks' inclusion, as seen in the recently released trailer, highlights his chaotic fighting style and signature voice lines. While some may have hoped for a "Darth Jar Jar" twist, he'll instead be utilizing a staff. He'll be available when the game launches on January 23rd, and pre-orders are open.

The newly revealed characters demonstrate a diverse range of additions:

  • Jar Jar Binks
  • Rodian
  • Flame Droid
  • Gungan Guard
  • Destroyer Droid
  • Ishi Tib
  • Rifle Droid
  • Staff Tusken Raider
  • Weequay
  • Mercenary

Aspyr's commitment to expanding the playable character roster extends beyond these ten, hinting at further announcements before launch. This includes familiar faces like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, as well as various droid types. The Gungan Guard also joins Jar Jar Binks as a playable Gungan character.

With the release date fast approaching, fans eagerly await the opportunity to experience these new additions and the enhanced features in the updated Jedi Power Battles. Aspyr's past experience with re-releasing classic Star Wars games, such as Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, offers hope for a successful and satisfying update that caters to the expectations of nostalgic fans.
