"South Park Season 27 Release Date Revealed in Topical Trailer"

Author:Kristen Update:Apr 16,2025

The boys are back in town — and by the boys, we mean Stan, Kyle, Kenny, and Cartman. South Park is set to return for Season 27, and it appears our favorite crew from Colorado will be tackling the current state of affairs, albeit in their own unique, barely-coping way.

The beloved animated series released a new trailer to announce the upcoming season, but with a twist. It initially tricked the audience into thinking they were getting a sneak peek at a new drama. The trailer's intense editing and suspenseful music created an ominous atmosphere... until Randy, Stan's dad, and his sister Shelley appeared on screen. In a humorous twist, Randy asks Shelley if she's been taking drugs, suggesting, "Because I think it could really help you," as they sit on her bed with a Wicked movie poster in the background.

South Park Season 27 premieres Wednesday, July 9th.
After the gag, the trailer shifts back to intense action, hinting at several significant and topical events in the new season. These include multiple plane crashes, the toppling of the Statue of Liberty, a P. Diddy cameo, and an anticipated conflict with Canada. Fans of the show, especially those who've seen the 1999 film South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut, won't be surprised by the latter.

The teaser confirms that Season 27 will premiere on July 9, 2025, on Comedy Central, marking over two years since the conclusion of Season 26. Since then, the series has aired three specials: South Park: Joining the Panderverse and South Park (Not Suitable For Children) in 2023, followed by South Park: The End of Obesity in 2024.

South Park, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2022, has been a staple on Comedy Central since its debut in 1997, quickly earning widespread acclaim.
