The viral Skibidi Toilet phenomenon recently caused a bizarre DMCA kerfuffle involving the popular sandbox game Garry's Mod. Fortunately, the situation appears resolved, according to game developer Garry Newman.

Who Sent the DMCA Notice? Still a Mystery

While the exact source remains undisclosed, Garry Newman confirmed to IGN that a DMCA takedown notice was received late last year from individuals associated with the Skibidi Toilet copyright holders. The identity of the sender is still unconfirmed, leaving open the possibility it originated from either DaFuqBoom or Invisible Narratives.

Newman expressed his disbelief on a Discord server, stating, "Can you believe the cheek?" The ensuing drama quickly went viral. He subsequently confirmed the issue's resolution, though the sender's identity remains confidential.

The DMCA targeted user-created content within Garry's Mod featuring Skibidi Toilet characters like Titan Cameraman, Titan Speakerman, and Titan TV Man. The sender claimed these characters were copyrighted and that the unauthorized Garry's Mod content generated significant revenue. The notice impacted Garry's Mod, a Valve-published game released in 2006.
