Silksong Is Real And Will Release, Reassures PR Manager

Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Manager, Matthew Griffin, confirms that Hollow Knight: Silksong is still under active development and will eventually be released. This follows recent speculation sparked by a cake-related profile picture change by a co-creator, which proved to be unrelated to any Silksong announcement.

Griffin's statement on X (formerly Twitter) directly addressed fan concerns, reassuring them that the game is real, progressing well, and slated for release. This marks the first official update on Silksong's status in over a year and a half. While initial excitement followed the news, some fans expressed continued impatience given the game's long development cycle.

A Long-Awaited Sequel

Initially unveiled in February 2019 with a projected release in the first half of 2023, Silksong was delayed in May 2023 due to its expanded scope and the developers' commitment to quality. Team Cherry previously highlighted key features including a new kingdom, nearly 150 new enemies, and a challenging "Silk Soul" difficulty mode.

The delay, approaching two years, has understandably led to mixed reactions from the fanbase. While some fans remain optimistic and supportive, others express frustration over the lack of concrete release details.

Hollow Knight: Silksong will launch on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. The game follows Hornet, the princess-protector of Hallownest, on a perilous journey to the kingdom's peak. While a release date remains unannounced, further updates are anticipated.
