Author:Kristen Update:May 14,2025

In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, the main story quest "Necessary Evil" presents players with one of the game's most challenging moral dilemmas: whether to side with Semine or Hashek. This decision can significantly impact the game's narrative and outcome. Here’s a detailed walkthrough and analysis to help you navigate through this quest.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Necessary Evil Quest Walkthrough

After completing the main quest "Back in the Saddle," you can initiate "Necessary Evil." This quest involves von Bergow tasking Hans and Henry with gathering intelligence from Nebakov Fortress and interrogating a prisoner. The interrogation's outcome is crucial as it will influence whether von Bergow targets Semine or Nebakov Fortress. This guide will focus on the Semine path, where the toughest decisions arise.

Prisoner Interrogation Answers

Prisoner Interrogation in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

During the prisoner interrogation, you must pass several Speech checks. You can choose to threaten the prisoner with sufficient Speech skill or resort to using torture instruments to extract information. Here are the Speech check requirements:

  • “We’ll put in a good word for you.” (20 Impression)
  • “Istvan and I are old acquaintances.” (20 Impression)
  • “Otherwise, it’ll end badly for you.” (17 Intimidation)

After the interrogation, you'll uncover details about the bandit leader and Semine's involvement. When reporting back to von Bergow, you can either inform him about Young Semine's alliance with the bandits, leading to an attack on Semine, or claim that no one helped the bandits, directing the attack towards Nebakov.

Should You Attack Semine or Nebakov?

Opting to attack Semine requires you to join the party and head there, leading to more complex decisions involving Hashek. Conversely, choosing Nebakov will see von Bergow handling the bandits there, concluding the quest immediately.

While attacking Nebakov might spare Semine from bloodshed, it leaves Semine unpunished for his actions, which have caused many innocent deaths. I chose to attack Semine, believing it was the right choice, despite having formed connections with its residents earlier in the game.

If you decide to attack Semine, it's crucial to ride with the party. Falling behind could result in the town's slaughter. Accompanying them gives you a chance to influence the outcome positively.

Should You Side With Semine or Hashek?

Decision between Semine and Hashek in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Before heading out, speaking with Hashek reveals his intent for revenge on Semine and a desire for a violent resolution. Upon arriving at Semine, you must decide between siding with Semine or Hashek.

  • To side with Hashek, select the dialogue option “Hashek is right.”
  • To side with Semine, choose “Olda deserves a trial.”

I recommend siding with Semine. Although he was wrong to aid the bandits, Hashek's path would lead to more innocent casualties. Playing Henry as a morally upright character aligns with choosing to stop Hashek.

After siding with Semine and defeating Hashek, advise the Semines to burn their estate and flee. This action advances the quest to the next objective, reporting back to von Bergow.

Siding with Hashek results in the town's massacre. You can also locate Olda in the tower and decide his fate—either let him live or turn him over to Hashek.

Should You Tell von Bergow or Let Hans Talk?

The quest concludes with Henry and Hans reporting to von Bergow. You can either remain silent and let Hans handle the conversation or speak up and reveal the events at Semine.

It's advisable to let Hans do the talking. Hans's diplomatic skills keep both him and Henry in von Bergow's favor, leading to plans for addressing the situation at Nebakov.
