Ryan Reynolds in Early Deadpool-X-Men Film Talks

Author:Kristen Update:Dec 02,2025

Ryan Reynolds hasn't officially pitched anything to Marvel yet, but sources indicate he's in preliminary discussions about bringing a Deadpool and X-Men crossover film to fruition.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Reynolds envisions an ensemble project where Deadpool plays a supporting role alongside three or four key X-Men characters. The actor reportedly wants these mutant heroes to drive the narrative in inventive, unconventional ways.

This potential project remains separate from the X-Men film being developed by Michael Lesslie (The Hunger Games screenwriter). The approach mirrors Reynolds' process for Deadpool & Wolverine - he typically develops concepts independently before presenting them to Marvel. Initially, that blockbuster was conceived as a modest road trip film.

While rumors about a Deadpool ensemble movie have circulated before, these new details suggest exciting possibilities for the Merc With a Mouth's future adventures.

The X-Men lineup remains speculative, though Deadpool has substantial history with the mutant team. Previous films featured collaborations with Wolverine, Colossus, Sabertooth, Pyro, and even Channing Tatum's cameo as Gambit.
