Meta Quest Pro Officially Discontinued; Meta Quest 3 Takes the Reins

Meta has officially pulled the plug on its Meta Quest Pro headset, confirming its discontinuation on the official website. This follows earlier announcements predicting depleted stock by early 2025.

Despite Meta's overall VR headset success, the Quest Pro's high price tag ($1,499.99) hindered its market penetration. This price point significantly exceeded the more affordable standard Meta Quest models ($299.99 - $499.99), impacting both consumer and corporate adoption. Consequently, production ceased.

As anticipated, remaining Quest Pro units are now sold out. Meta's online store now redirects potential buyers to the Meta Quest 3, touted as the "ultimate mixed reality experience." While a few stray units might linger on retail shelves, finding one is increasingly unlikely.

Why Choose the Meta Quest 3?

The Meta Quest 3 offers comparable features to its predecessor at a considerably lower cost ($499). Like the Quest Pro, it prioritizes mixed reality, enabling users to blend virtual displays with their real-world surroundings for interactive experiences.

Technically, the Quest 3 surpasses the Quest Pro in several areas. It's lighter, boasts higher resolution and refresh rate, promising a more immersive experience. Furthermore, the Quest Pro's Touch Pro controllers remain compatible with the Quest 3. Budget-conscious users can also consider the Meta Quest 2S, a more affordable option with slightly reduced specifications, starting at $299.99.
