PUBG Mobile Goes Cloud-Based: A Soft Launch in the US and Malaysia

Krafton is shaking things up with the release of PUBG Mobile Cloud, a cloud-based version of the popular battle royale game. Currently in soft launch for US and Malaysian players, this standalone Google Play download promises a lag-free, hardware-independent gaming experience, free from overheating worries and other technical limitations. A global rollout is anticipated soon.

For the uninitiated, cloud gaming utilizes remote servers, eliminating the need for local downloads or programs. The heavy lifting is handled elsewhere, allowing for high-fidelity gameplay on a wider variety of devices.

Expanding Accessibility

Unlike many cloud gaming services integrated into subscription models, PUBG Mobile Cloud stands as a standalone offering. This approach significantly broadens the potential player base, particularly appealing to those whose devices struggle to run the standard PUBG Mobile.

While the app's listed requirements remain somewhat broad, its primary target likely consists of players whose phones previously couldn't handle the game's demands. Whether this niche finds significant traction remains to be seen.
