Pokémon Legends: Z-A Coming Soon on Nintendo Switch 2

The Pokémon Company confirms Pokémon Legends: Z-A's launch date: October 16, 2025, including a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition. Preorders open June 5.

A special Pokémon Presents showcase arrives July 22 featuring "the latest Pokémon news and updates." Simultaneously, Mega Evolution-themed merch launches today on Pokémon Center.

Purchasers of Pokémon Legends: Z-A on Nintendo Switch can upgrade to the Switch 2 Edition for $10 through Nintendo eShop or My Nintendo Store, gaining enhanced graphics and performance.

Game Features Revealed

The official box art showcases protagonists and their partner Pokémon engaged in a nocturnal Mega Evolution battle across Lumiose City's skyline.

According to The Pokémon Company's description:

Pokémon Legends: Z-A pioneers a revolutionary RPG experience set entirely within Lumiose City, introducing real-time battles and action elements never before seen in the franchise. This urban adventure will redefine how trainers and Pokémon shape their shared destiny.

Mega Evolution Celebration

The company announced extended Mega Evolution merchandise plans including:

  • New apparel lines featuring Mega Venusaur and Mega Lucario
  • Collectible jumbo Charizard X/Y enamel pins
  • Plush collections rolling out throughout 2025

Preorder bonuses in select regions include random Sitting Cuties plush toys (Chikorita/Tepig/Totodile) with Pokémon Center purchases.

The game originally debuted during last year's Pokémon Presents with a cryptic trailer featuring Lumiose City's futuristic transformation. Subsequent reveals have shown expanded gameplay including:
