Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Launch Year of the Snake Event with Mass Outbreaks

Trainers, get ready for an exciting event in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet! A thrilling Mass Outbreak featuring Silicobra, Ekans, and Seviper is underway, celebrating the upcoming Year of the Snake. This Snakelike Mass Outbreak event will run for a limited time, from January 9 at 7:00 PM Eastern until January 12 at 6:59 PM Eastern, giving you just a weekend to dive in and catch these slithery Pokémon.

This event comes hot on the heels of a Shiny Rayquaza Tera raid event that concluded 2024, marking the end of the Year of the Dragon. Although Shiny Rayquaza was easier to catch due to its Fairy-type weakness, it was a memorable event to close out the year. Now, as we welcome 2025 and the Year of the Snake, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are offering players another chance to enhance their collections with Shiny versions of Silicobra, Ekans, and Seviper.

During this event, the Paldea region will be overrun with Silicobra, while Ekans will dominate outbreaks in the Kitakami region, and Seviper will appear in the Terarium. These Pokémon will range from levels 10 to 65, depending on your progress in the main story. To participate, simply connect to the internet, navigate to the Poke Portal from the in-game menu, and select "Get Poke Portal News" to access these Mass Outbreaks.

The featured Pokémon in this event will enjoy a 0.5% increased Shiny rate before any additional multipliers are applied. To boost your chances of encountering a Shiny Silicobra, Ekans, or Seviper, consider crafting a Shiny Sandwich. For Ekans and Seviper, use a Salty or Spicy Herba Mystica along with a Green Bell Pepper. For Silicobra, substitute the pepper with Ham.
