Pokémon TCG: Free Trade Tokens Boost Player Experience

Pokémon TCG Pocket's trading feature launch has been underwhelming, despite high player demand. To compensate, developers are giving away 1000 Trade Tokens via the in-game Gifts menu while they rework the trading system. This follows earlier announcements to improve trading accessibility and currency acquisition.

Many players criticized the original trading system's restrictions, such as rarity limitations and the need for Trade Tokens. These limitations, while intended to prevent exploitation, proved controversial.

Reworking Trading

A simpler approach—either completely open trading or no trading at all—might have avoided the current issues. While botting concerns are valid, stringent restrictions likely only presented minor obstacles to determined exploiters.

The upcoming trading rework is crucial. A successful digital TCG trading system could establish a compelling alternative to the physical card game.
