From Select Button to Pokémon Works

Pokémon Sleep Development TransitionThe Pokémon Company's newly established subsidiary, Pokémon Works, is taking over Pokémon Sleep's development and future updates from Select Button. This follows the March 2024 launch of Pokémon Works, generating much speculation about its upcoming projects.

An in-app announcement (translated from Japanese) confirmed the transition of development and operation responsibilities from Select Button Co., Ltd. to Pokémon Works. The global app's news section, however, hasn't yet reflected this change.

Pokémon Sleep Development TransitionPokémon Works' background and current projects remain largely undisclosed. However, Representative Director Takuya Iwasaki's website greeting reveals it's a collaborative venture between The Pokémon Company and Iruka Co., Ltd.

Interestingly, Pokémon Works shares a Tokyo location with ILCA, the studio behind the 2021 Pokémon remakes, Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and a co-developer of Pokémon HOME. Iwasaki also noted Pokémon Works' contribution to Pokémon HOME.

While their Pokémon-related experience is currently limited, Pokémon Works aims to "create an experience that makes Pokémon more real... so that everyone can enjoy meeting and adventuring with Pokémon." The specifics of how this vision will shape Pokémon Sleep's future remain to be seen.
