Run PC Games on Android with Xiaomi

Xiaomi unveiled its innovative WinPlay Engine, a cutting-edge tool enabling Android tablets to run Windows games locally with minimal performance impact. Currently in beta, it’s exclusive to the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro.

This technology shows strong promise. Powered by Xiaomi’s HyperCore kernel, the WinPlay Engine uses a three-layer virtualization system, allowing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2-equipped Pad 6S Pro to handle Windows games efficiently.

What Drives Its Performance?

Xiaomi claims only a 2.9% GPU performance drop, a minor compromise for the ability to play PC games on a tablet.

The WinPlay Engine enhances gameplay with features like Steam support, potentially letting users access their PC game libraries, though full compatibility details remain limited.

It also supports Bluetooth peripherals, including keyboards, mice, and Xbox controllers with vibration, enabling local multiplayer for up to four players.

Setup requires some effort: users must purchase games on platforms like Steam or GOG, transfer files to the tablet, and launch them via the AI Treasure Box app. As a beta product, it’s not yet fully seamless.

Currently, the WinPlay Engine is limited to the Xiaomi Pad 6S Pro, with no timeline for broader device support. Still, the prospect of near-native PC gaming on Android tablets is thrilling.
