Pirate Software Kicked Out of OnlyFangs World of Warcraft Guild

Summary

Pirate Software, a World of Warcraft player, was expelled from the OnlyFangs guild following a disastrous Dire Maul North run in the Classic Anniversary servers. This resulted in the deaths of two Hardcore guild members, Sara and Snupy, due to Pirate Software's alleged failure to utilize crowd control effectively.

The incident, which occurred after the recent addition of Dire Maul to the Anniversary servers, reignited interest in Classic Hardcore gameplay. While Hardcore servers initially saw a decline in popularity after their August 2023 launch, the November 2024 Anniversary server additions revitalized the Classic scene, leading to a surge in both participation and, unfortunately, player deaths.

Guild Master Sodapoppin, citing discomfort among guild members and Pirate Software's refusal to accept responsibility, made the decision to remove him. A Discord statement highlighted Pirate Software's abandonment of the group during the escape, exacerbating the situation. While Sodapoppin noted that under normal circumstances, Pirate Software might have remained, his unrepentant attitude sealed his fate. (Note: A video detailing the event contains strong language).

Further fueling the controversy, allegations surfaced of threats made by Pirate Software to fellow streamers following the incident. Mizkif, a fellow OnlyFangs member, alluded to these threats. Pirate Software subsequently responded on Twitter, expressing dissatisfaction with the guild's handling of the situation.

The OnlyFangs guild, having experienced multiple member departures since its recreation on the Doomhowl Anniversary server, might see the formation of splinter groups. With Blizzard's ongoing commitment to Vanilla-accurate patches, the potential for future Hardcore deaths remains high as new content is introduced.
