The standout of this month is undoubtedly Persona 5 Royal. In IGN’s 10/10 review, Leana Hafer called it, “Persona 5 was already a strong front-runner for being the best JRPG ever made, and Royal really gets me wondering what else could even compete.”

What really stands out to me in Persona 5 Royal are the social links—even among the rest of the Persona series. Each “Palace,” essentially a dungeon, feels like an entire season of an anime, packed with deep character growth, humor, and plenty of heartfelt moments.

If you recently played IGN’s 2024 Game of the Year, Metaphor: Refantazio, this is a perfect opportunity to explore Atlus’s signature series, which shares many of the same mechanics. Otherwise, this is an ideal entry point for anyone curious about modern turn-based JRPGs.
