Path of Exile 2's Endgame Rituals: A Comprehensive Guide

Path of Exile 2 introduces several endgame events, including Breaches, Expeditions, Delirium, and Rituals. This guide focuses on Rituals, a revived mechanic from previous leagues, detailing how to initiate them, their mechanics, the Pinnacle boss, and the unique reward system.

Identifying and Initiating Rituals

On the Atlas, Ritual Altar map nodes are marked with a distinct red pentagram icon. A Ritual Precursor Tablet, slotted into a completed Lost Tower, guarantees a Ritual encounter on a chosen node.

Once in a Ritual map, several Altars will spawn. Each map features a shared random modifier impacting enemy types or mechanics (e.g., massive rat waves or spreading pools of life-draining blood).

Interact with an Altar after noting its modifiers to trigger a large enemy wave. Remain within the designated circle; venturing into the shadows ends the event without rewards. Completing all Rituals on a map marks it as complete.

The King in the Mists: The Pinnacle Boss

'An Audience With The King,' a unique Ritual currency, unlocks the Crux of Nothingness and the King in the Mists Pinnacle Boss fight. Slot this currency into your Realmgate on the Atlas.

The King in the Mists shares mechanics with his Act 1 counterpart. Practice encounters can be found in the Freythorn zone (Act 1, Cruel difficulty). Defeating him rewards 2 Ritual Passive Skill points, a chance at unique items, powerful currencies, and Omen items.

The Ritual Passive Skill Tree

The Ritual Passive Skill Tree, accessible from the Atlas Passive Skill Tree screen (bottom right), enhances Rituals. Nodes modify Tribute requirements, improve rewards, and boost unique currency drop rates.

The tree features eight Notable nodes and eight nodes increasing King in the Mists difficulty. Each King in the Mists victory grants 2 skill points, necessitating increased difficulty for each new Notable node.

Prioritize these Notable nodes:

Rewards: Tribute, Favours, and Omens

Completed Rituals grant Tribute, used to purchase randomized Favour items. More Altars completed increase Tribute and unlock more Favours, ranging from Magic items and low-tier currencies to Rare gear and high-tier currencies. "An Audience With The King" is a Favour reward.

Omens, exceptionally powerful consumable items, enhance other currencies. Examples include Omens of Annulment (restricting removed modifiers) and Omens of Alchemy (limiting added modifiers). Omens are highly valuable and often traded.

Ritual Events also drop high-tier currencies (Exalted Orbs, Vaal Orbs, etc.). The King in the Mists has a chance to drop Uniques from a Ritual-exclusive pool.
