Pocketpair's Palworld, renowned for its expansive open-world exploration, offers a treasure trove of mystical items and Pals. The Feybreak DLC significantly expanded this, introducing numerous crafting materials crucial for enhancing player characters and Pal bases. One such elusive material is Dark Fragments. Unlike the more common Paldium, Dark Fragments are essential for crafting high-tier accessories, making their acquisition a Feybreak priority.

How to Acquire Dark Fragments in Palworld

To obtain Dark Fragments, hunt Dark-elemental Pals exclusively on Feybreak Island. This method doesn't work for Dark-elemental Pals on other islands; Dark Fragments are a Feybreak-specific resource. The coastal and gravel areas primarily house ground and water-type Pals; venture inland to find Dark-elemental Pals. Note that some, like Starryon, are nocturnal unless encountered as boss variants.

Capturing or defeating these Pals (using Ultimate or Exotic Spheres is recommended) yields 1-3 Dark Fragments per encounter. The drop isn't guaranteed, but efficient hunting should provide a sufficient supply.

The following Dark-elemental Pals yield Dark Fragments. Be aware of boss and predator variants found in open areas or dungeons:

Pal Name Drop Rate Starryon1-2 x Dark Fragments Omascul1-2 x Dark Fragments Splatterina2-3 x Dark Fragments Dazzi Noct1 x Dark Fragment Kitsun Noct1-2 x Dark Fragments Starryon (Midnight Blue Mane; Boss)1-2 x Dark Fragments Rampaging Starryon (Predator Pal)1-2 x Dark Fragments Omascul (Hundred-Faced Apostle; Boss)1-2 x Dark Fragments Splatterina (Crismon Butcher; Boss)2-3 x Dark Fragments Dazzi Noct (Born of the Thunderclouds; Boss)1 x Dark Fragment Kitsun Noct (Guardian of the Dark Flame; Boss)1-2 x Dark Fragments Rampaging Omascul (Predator Pal)1-2 x Dark Fragments Rampaging Splatterina (Predator Pal)2-3 x Dark Fragments

While less reliable, single Dark Fragments may randomly appear on Feybreak. Thorough exploration is encouraged, though remember that frequent combat depletes ammo, which may be better conserved for challenges like Bjorn, the island's Tower Boss.

Utilizing Dark Fragments in Palworld

Despite the challenge of acquiring them, Dark Fragments aren't used in a vast array of recipes. They primarily craft specialized saddles, accessories for certain Pals, and enhanced boots (dash and jump) for the player character.

Dark Fragments are used to craft the following items. Remember to unlock the schematics in the Technology Menu (or Ancient Technology Menu) using Technology Points, and ensure you have the necessary machines and materials:
