Capcom Unveils Onimusha: Way of the Sword Gameplay Featuring Miyamoto Musashi

Capcom has treated fans to a fresh look at its upcoming action title, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, slated for release in 2026. The new gameplay trailer, showcased during the PlayStation State of Play, reveals the game's protagonist: the legendary swordsman, Miyamoto Musashi.

The trailer highlights intense sword combat and formidable foes, promising a thrilling action experience. Musashi's portrayal blends impressive swordsmanship with a charismatic, even comedic, personality.

Capcom describes Onimusha: Way of the Sword as a dark fantasy action game featuring one of Japan's most renowned historical figures. Musashi's in-game likeness is reportedly based on the iconic Toshiro Mifune, famous for his samurai roles in classic cinema.

The game's setting is Kyoto, under siege by a malevolent force known as Malic, which is summoning demonic entities from the underworld. This marks the first new entry in the Onimusha series in two decades. To bridge the gap, Capcom also announced a remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny, launching May 23, 2025.
