Nintendo Switch 2 Announcement Date Leaked by Insider

Nintendo Switch 2: Official Reveal Expected This Thursday, January 16th

A reputable leaker, NateTheHate, claims the Nintendo Switch 2 will be officially unveiled on Thursday, January 16th, 2025. This early 2025 reveal strongly suggests a first-half 2025 market launch. The Verge's Tom Warren corroborated this information. This aligns with Nintendo's history of using Thursdays for major announcements, mirroring the original Switch reveal in 2016.

The Switch 2's existence has been widely anticipated, with mass production reportedly commencing in late September or early October 2024. Numerous hardware leaks have further fueled speculation. Nintendo previously committed to an announcement before March 31st, 2025.

Extensive Leaks Precede Official Announcement

While a pre-reveal teaser on social media, similar to the original Switch announcement, remains a possibility, the extensive leaks surrounding the Switch 2 may leave few surprises for attentive fans. The sheer volume of leaked information, including Nintendo's rare acknowledgement of a replica console, underscores the anticipation.

Rumors suggest a slightly larger console (270 x 116 x 14mm) than the Switch OLED, featuring an 8-inch LCD screen and magnetically attaching Joy-Cons. The right Joy-Con is reportedly adding a "C" button, its function currently unknown but potentially linked to a rumored mouse-like pointer mode.

Launch Titles Remain Enigmatic

Unlike the hardware details, the Switch 2's launch game lineup remains largely undisclosed. While My Time at Evershine and Bestiario are confirmed, neither is anticipated as a day-one release, assuming a first-half 2025 launch. Nintendo is likely to include at least one or two significant first-party titles to drive initial sales.
