Nintendo Sets Indie World Showcase, Sparks Silksong Hopes

Could Hollow Knight: Silksong make an appearance at this week’s Indie World Showcase, just announced by Nintendo? As an indie title, it seems like the perfect venue.

Nintendo has confirmed a new Indie World Showcase for this Thursday, August 7, at 6am PT / 2pm UK time. The 15-minute event will feature new indie game reveals and updates for both Nintendo Switch 2 and the current Nintendo Switch.

This showcase follows last month's Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase, where Silksong’s dedicated fans were let down yet again by its absence. With the game confirmed playable at Microsoft’s Xbox booth during gamescom later this month, and again at an Australian museum in September, many are hoping for a release date announcement soon.

However, Silksong fans have faced disappointment repeatedly—so the familiar letdown may linger until the next major event, such as Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live during gamescom week. It's a pattern that's become all too familiar.

Meanwhile, Nintendo fans are eager for a first-party Direct. The company has delivered a Partner Direct and now this indie showcase. When can we expect a full Nintendo Direct? Titles like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Kirby Air Riders—still slated for 2025—need promotion, and what about that rumored 3D Mario title, Nintendo?
