Nintendo Switch 2 disables rumble after prolonged use

Author:Kristen Update:Nov 25,2025

Nintendo Switch 2 owners report their controllers' vibration function automatically deactivating when the system detects "extended use" of the rumble feature.

Since the console's launch this month, users have encountered on-screen notifications stating "Rumble has been turned off due to prolonged use," temporarily disabling controller vibrations.

"Initially I'd get this alert after roughly 90 minutes of handheld play," shared one Reddit user. "Now it appears within the first 20 minutes. Is anyone else experiencing this?"

Players report vibration issues across multiple games, including intensive combat sequences in Cyberpunk 2077 (notably during minigun firing) and cinematic moments in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD.

A dedicated Reddit thread documents further affected titles. "Happened during Sonic Generations' final boss fight," complained one gamer. "Getting frequent warnings while playing Fast Fusion," added another.

Nintendo hasn't officially commented, though the community speculates this may be a battery-preservation measure. While vibration requires significant power, some argue disabling the feature entirely seems extreme.

"I'm getting these alerts after just brief play sessions," voiced a concerned player in another discussion. "Concerned I might have faulty controllers."

Currently affected users report permanently disabling vibrations in system settings as their only solution, while others note functionality typically restores automatically after a short cooldown period.
