NieR: Automata's opening throws you straight into 2B's mission. After landing your flight unit and engaging in some initial melee combat, you'll acquire a one-handed and a powerful two-handed sword: the Virtuous Treaty. While you temporarily lose it after the prologue, reacquiring it is surprisingly easy once free-roaming is unlocked in the next chapter.

Where To Get The Virtuous Treaty In NieR: Automata

This early game weapon is easily accessible, located not far from your initial spawn point after exiting the bunker. Upon landing in the city ruins, descend to the lower area. To your left, you'll spot a highway above the nearest access point. Head towards the highway, using the ruins to climb onto the main road. This path will lead you back towards the factory area.

Jump down to the factory and follow the grassy path towards the main structure. On the left, you'll find another access point with stairs leading upwards. From the upper area, look to the left towards the destroyed bridge where you encountered the Goliath-class enemy. The Virtuous Treaty is embedded in the ground at the edge of this bridge, ready to be retrieved.

Conveniently, just to the right of the sword lies your old body. Loot it to recover any consumables left behind from the prologue.

Virtuous Treaty Base Stats In NieR: Automata

  • Attack: 300-330
  • Combo: Lt 2 Hv 2

Typical of two-handed weapons, the Virtuous Treaty excels at wide-sweeping attacks, dealing significant damage to multiple enemies. However, it has a slower attack speed. Through upgrades, it can achieve some of the highest damage outputs in the game, provided you can adapt to its slower pace. You can also strategically combine it with a faster weapon, using a heavy attack from the Virtuous Treaty within a quicker weapon's combo. While this prevents a full Virtuous Treaty combo, it allows you to leverage its high damage while mitigating its slow speed.
