In Spirit Crossing, players can explore a vast world, build and decorate homes, and cultivate a thriving village alongside others. The gameplay includes gathering resources, riding fluffy creatures, attending dance parties, and simply enjoying time with friends. The visual style draws inspiration from Studio Ghibli, French comics, and modern art like Corporate Memphis, aiming to create a timeless and welcoming environment where players can settle in for the long haul.

The game introduces a unique in-game calendar system that impacts progression. For example, trees you plant will take three to six real-world months to mature into harvestable orchards. This slow-paced design echoes Spry Fox's approach in Cozy Grove and emphasizes long-term engagement.
