If you're a fan of *The Last of Us* eagerly awaiting news on a potential Part 3, you might want to brace yourself. Neil Druckmann, the series' creator, has recently dashed hopes of a sequel in a candid interview with Variety. The discussion, which primarily focused on the upcoming TV adaptation of the game, took a turn when Druckmann was asked about the possibility of *The Last of Us Part 3*. His response was clear and disheartening:

"I was waiting for this question," he sighed. "I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of 'Last of Us.' This could be it."

While Druckmann's statement might be disappointing, it's worth considering whether he's being entirely forthcoming. Currently, Naughty Dog is deeply invested in their new project, *Intergalactic*, announced at The Game Awards last December. With no release window in sight, it's clear the studio's focus is elsewhere for the foreseeable future. Druckmann might be playing his cards close to the chest, or he might genuinely be finished with the *Last of Us* saga. Only time will tell if his stance changes.

For those still hungry for more *The Last of Us* content, the television series offers a glimmer of hope. The second season is set to premiere on April 13 on Max. While Druckmann remains uncertain about the number of seasons needed to complete the story of Part 2, an HBO executive suggested in February that four seasons could be the ideal length to fully explore the narrative.
