MultiVersus Nears Shutdown: Warner Bros. Game Loses 99% of Players

If Season 5 of MultiVersus doesn't perform well, it could mark the end of the game. AusilMV, an insider known for reliable game leaks, has reported that a credible source indicated Season 5 is the developers' last attempt to revive the game's fortunes. While this remains a rumor, the situation appears dire.

At its launch in 2022, MultiVersus enjoyed explosive success, reaching a peak of 153,000 concurrent players on Steam. However, the game's online presence plummeted by 99% shortly after, prompting Warner Bros. Games to close the project in June 2023, labeling it an "open beta test." Despite a relaunch in May 2024 with updates, the game has struggled to recapture its initial popularity.

The fifth season of MultiVersus is set to begin in early February, potentially serving as the final opportunity for developers to rekindle player interest. This relaunch follows the initial 2022 release, which the developers referred to as a "beta." Although the game was well-received initially, the decision to temporarily shut it down in June 2023, announced in March of that year, left many players, especially those who purchased the premium edition to support the developers, feeling frustrated and disappointed.
