MultiVersus presented two last characters while fans threaten game developers

MultiVersus's story is a cautionary tale for the gaming industry, a case study in potential unrealized, comparable to the infamous Concord debacle. Yet, the game's final chapter is being written, with the developers unveiling the last two characters: Lola Bunny and Aquaman.

This revelation comes against a backdrop of mounting fan frustration, some expressing their disappointment through unacceptable threats directed at the development team. MultiVersus game director Tony Huynh responded with a heartfelt message, pleading with players to cease the harassment.

Huynh apologized for the unfulfilled expectations of many fans who hoped to see their favorite characters join the roster. He expressed optimism that players would still enjoy the content of the final Season 5. He also emphasized the complex factors influencing character selection, clarifying that his personal control over these decisions was less than some players perceived.

Following the shutdown announcement, some players expressed anger over their inability to spend in-game tokens on the promised new characters, a perk included with the $100 edition. This unfulfilled promise may have contributed to the escalating threats.
