Mortal Kombat 11 Update: Hara-Kiri Fatalities Discovered Through Data Mine

Author:Kristen Update:Feb 23,2025

A Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer has uncovered strong evidence suggesting the addition of Hara-Kiri Fatalities, rebranded as Quitalities, in a future update.

Redditor InfiniteNightZ shared a video showcasing what appear to be Hara-Kiri animations within the game's files. Hara-Kiri finishers, a self-inflicted fatality feature first seen in Mortal Kombat: Deception (2004), allow defeated players to end their own character's life with a spectacular move. The video notably includes animations for recently added DLC characters like Ghostface, bolstering the theory of an upcoming implementation rather than scrapped content. InfiniteNightZ stated, "After seeing they're adding it to the downloaded roster now, I think it's highly possible."

Further supporting this, InfiniteNightZ noted that the animations are labeled as "Quitalities" in the game's code—quick finishers triggered by player disconnections, a series staple. "They are listed as Quitalities, there's still hope," they added.

Following InfiniteNightZ's discovery, prominent Mortal Kombat 1 dataminer Interloko uncovered additional Hara-Kiri animations, confirming their existence within the game's data. However, it's important to note that neither NetherRealm Studios nor Warner Bros. Games has officially announced Quitalities for Mortal Kombat 1.

The recent addition of a secret Floyd (pink ninja) fight and the community's collaborative efforts to decipher its unlock conditions have revitalized the Mortal Kombat 1 community. With the upcoming T-1000 guest character and the potential for further DLC on the horizon (unconfirmed by NetherRealm), the possibility of Quitalities adds another layer of anticipation for fans.
