Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Returns to Esports World Cup 2025

Following the apparent success of the Esports World Cup 2024, several game publishers have announced their return for the 2025 edition. Moonton's Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) is the latest to confirm its participation.

The 2024 tournament featured two MLBB events: the MLBB Mid-Season Cup (MSC) and the MLBB Women's Invitational. These events brought together teams from various regions in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Selangor Red Giants emerged victorious in the MSC, while Smart Omega Empress defeated Team Vitality (ending their 25-game win streak) to claim the Women's Invitational title.

A Significant, Yet Secondary, Event?

While most games from the 2024 Esports World Cup are returning, a notable observation is the relative scale of the competitions involved. The inclusion of a mid-season cup as MLBB's main contribution suggests the Esports World Cup might be viewed as a supplementary event rather than the primary focus. This is a double-edged sword: it avoids overshadowing existing leagues but could also be perceived as less prestigious.

Nevertheless, fans of the participating games will undoubtedly welcome the return of so many titles to this prestigious tournament. For those intrigued by MLBB, a ranking of top-tier characters is readily available elsewhere.
