Marvel Unveils Release Date for Fan-Favorite Superheroes

Author:Kristen Update:Feb 20,2025

The Fantastic Four's roster in Marvel Rivals will be complete on February 21, 2025, with the arrival of The Thing and Human Torch as playable characters. This launch coincides with a Season 1.5 update, promising significant balance adjustments, as detailed in a recent developer blog post.

While specifics on The Thing and Human Torch's abilities remain under wraps, their introduction, following Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman's debut last month, is expected to significantly alter the game's meta. Previous additions showcased unique gameplay mechanics – Mister Fantastic's elastic powers and Sue Storm's invisibility – setting a precedent for Ben and Johnny Grimm's imminent arrival.

The Season 1.5 update also includes a rank reset for Ranked players. All players will be demoted four divisions (e.g., Diamond I to Platinum II). Future seasonal updates will implement a six-division drop, while mid-season updates will maintain the four-division drop. NetEase plans to adjust this system as needed based on player feedback.

However, the update isn't entirely negative. Gold-ranked players will receive new costume rewards, and new Crests of Honor will recognize top performers (Grandmaster, Celestial, Eternity, and One Above All tiers).

Creative director Guangyun Chen previously confirmed a new playable character every six weeks, suggesting a consistent stream of new heroes. While rumors point towards Blade as the next addition, the game's future roster remains largely unannounced.

For those eager to strategize, a current Marvel Rivals Season 1 tier list is available to help players optimize their team compositions before the mid-season update reshapes the competitive landscape. This update follows the initial Season 1 patch, which notably altered the game's meta and sparked community discussion regarding a potential bot issue.
