Marvel SNAP: The Best Moonstone Deck

Author:Kristen Update:Mar 15,2025

Quick Links

Moonstone, Marvel Snap's newest Ongoing card, copies the effects of your other 1-, 2-, and 3-cost Ongoing cards in her lane. Think of her as a supercharged Mystique. However, building a successful deck around this powerful but fragile card—often called "the Glass Cannon"—presents a significant challenge.

After extensive testing, two deck archetypes proved most effective: Patriot and Tribunal. This guide details how to build and optimize both. We'll also review whether Moonstone is a worthwhile addition to your collection.

Series: Five (Ultra Rare)

Season: Dark Avengers

The Best Deck for Moonstone

Moonstone excels in a supporting role, not as the primary win condition. A reliable strategy involves using her in a Patriot-Ultron deck. Focus on leveraging one or two key Ongoing effects rather than over-relying on her ability.

This Moonstone/Patriot/Ultron deck includes: Brood, Mystique, Dazzler, Mockingbird, Ant-Man, Iron Man, Squirrel Girl, Blue Marvel, and Mister Sinister.

Moonstone Deck Synergies

  • Set up board buffs using Brood, Sinister, or Squirrel Girl.
  • Utilize one lane for Patriot, Mystique, and Moonstone (ideally in that order).
  • Deploy Ultron in the final round to maximize location control and buff benefits.
  • Iron Man, Blue Marvel, and Mockingbird provide backup power if needed.

An Alternative Deck for Moonstone

For a more exciting, albeit less consistent, strategy, pair Moonstone with Onslaught and The Living Tribunal. Here, Moonstone becomes the win condition. This deck also includes: Mystique, Magik, Psylocke, Sera, Iron Man, Ravonna Renslayer, Captain America, Howard the Duck, and Iron Lad.

Ideal Playline:

  1. Use Psylocke to play Moonstone early.
  2. Play Onslaught, Mystique, and Iron Man in her lane.
  3. In the final round, distribute power across lanes using The Living Tribunal.

Psylocke and Sera provide cost reduction, allowing earlier deployment of key cards. Magik extends the match, enabling Onslaught and The Living Tribunal plays. Captain America and Iron Lad serve as backups. While many predicted a Moonstone-Onslaught-Tribunal meta, Super Skrull proved a significant counter.

How to Counter Moonstone

Super Skrull effectively counters Moonstone. Since her release, many players have incorporated Super Skrull into their decks to combat Moonstone strategies. Enchantress, Rogue, and Echo also neutralize her.

Moonstone's biggest weakness is her reliance on her own lane. Unless protected by cards like Invisible Woman, Enchantress, Echo, Rogue, or a Super Skrull in another lane easily disrupt her.

Is Moonstone Worth It?

Moonstone is a worthwhile investment for several reasons: 1) Her ability will become more valuable as more synergistic Ongoing cards are released; 2) She's in a Spotlight Cache with two other Series Five cards, reducing the risk of wasted pulls; and 3) She offers nostalgic, high-impact combo potential. If you enjoy powerful board-swinging plays, Moonstone is a great addition.
