Marvel Rivals Apologizes for Banning Non-Cheaters

NetEase's Marvel Rivals mistakenly bans innocent players. The developer, NetEase, issued a public apology for wrongfully banning numerous players who were using compatibility layer software on non-Windows systems (Mac, Linux, Steam Deck). These players were incorrectly flagged as cheaters during a recent anti-cheat initiative. The bans have since been lifted. The incident highlights the challenges of implementing effective anti-cheat measures without impacting legitimate players. Proton, the SteamOS compatibility layer, is known for triggering some anti-cheat systems.

Separately, players are requesting the implementation of character bans across all ranks. Currently, this feature is only available at Diamond rank and above. Many players believe that extending this mechanic to lower ranks would improve gameplay balance, provide learning opportunities for new players, and foster more diverse team compositions beyond simple DPS strategies. NetEase has yet to respond to this feedback.
