Hyper Light Breaker Character Guide: Unlocking and Playstyles

Hyper Light Breaker offers a diverse roster of characters, each with unique playstyles. This guide covers all current characters and how to unlock them in the early access version.

Unlocking New Characters

To unlock new characters, you need Abyss Stones, dropped by Crowns (bosses). First, locate Prisms (represented by golden diamond icons on the map) to access boss arenas. After defeating a Crown, return to the Cursed Outpost's teleporter. Select the character you wish to unlock and spend your Abyss Stones to add them to your roster. Currently, only two characters are unlockable via this method; the process for future characters may differ.

All Characters and Their SyComs

Each character starts with a SyCom, defining their base stats and core perk, significantly impacting their playstyle.

Vermillion

Vermillion's default SyCom is Gunslinger, favoring ranged combat with a crit-boosting mechanic. His unlockable Tank SyCom enhances his melee capabilities and defense through perfect parries.

Lapis

Lapis begins with Lightweaver, a ranged SyCom that boosts Rail shot damage after collecting Batteries. Her unlockable Warrior SyCom increases her core stats with each upgrade, making her exceptionally powerful late-game.

Goro

Goro is a ranged character. His default Astrologer SyCom accelerates Blade skill charging while shooting. His unlockable Sniper SyCom significantly increases his critical hit rate, making him a high-risk, high-reward option.
