Hyper Light Breaker, the 3D rogue-lite successor to Hyper Light Drifter, introduces a compelling multiplayer element. This guide details how to team up with friends or join random online matches.

Playing Hyper Light Breaker with Friends (Co-op)

To play co-op, you'll need to create a private multiplayer room. Upon arriving at the Cursed Outpost hub, approach the counter to the left of Pherus Bit.

Interact with the counter (typically R1 or RB) to access the Multiplayer menu. Select "Create Breaker Team."

Enable "Password Required" and set a password. Invite up to two friends via your platform's social features (PSN, Xbox, Steam supported). The game supports three-player teams.

Friends can join via the invitation or by searching for your team in the "Join Breaker Team" menu using the password.

Random Online Matchmaking

For solo players, public groups offer seamless online matchmaking.

In the Cursed Outpost's Multiplayer menu, choose "Join Breaker Team," then scroll down and select "Join Random Public Breaker Team."

The game will find an available public team and place you in their session.

To leave a multiplayer session, return to the counter in the Cursed Outpost, open the Multiplayer menu, and select the "Disconnect" option (appears only when in a session). Alternatively, simply exit the game.
