Once Human sits pretty at 230,000 peak player count, but it\'s still a long way out from mobile

NetEase's post-apocalyptic survival game, Once Human, achieved a remarkable 230,000 peak concurrent players on Steam upon its PC debut, securing a top-seven spot in sales and a top-five position in most-played games. The mobile version, initially slated for September, has been delayed, though the developers have hinted at upcoming updates.

These updates include a PvP mode pitting the Mayflies and Rosetta factions against each other, and a new PvE area in a northern mountain region introducing fresh challenges. Set in a world ravaged by a catastrophic event leading to supernatural occurrences, Once Human is a highly anticipated title from NetEase.

A Cause for Concern?

The use of "peak" player count (230,000) suggests the average player count may be significantly lower. This initial drop-off, especially considering the game's initial Steam wishlist count of over 300,000, might be a concern for NetEase. While NetEase is a mobile gaming giant, its transition to the PC market may prove more challenging than anticipated, despite Once Human's impressive visuals and gameplay.

Despite the setback, the mobile release of Once Human (still planned for September) remains highly anticipated. In the meantime, explore our curated lists of the best and most anticipated mobile games of 2024 to discover other captivating titles!
