Herta is a familiar face to Honkai: Star Rail players, with many eagerly awaiting her debut due to interactions with her puppets since the game's launch. Unlike characters like Fugue or Imbibitor Lunae, Herta maintains the same path and element as her 4-star version. However, her playstyle differs significantly from the puppet iteration, focusing on accumulating Interpretation stacks through ally attacks to boost her damage output significantly.

To optimize Herta’s potential, team compositions should include allies with frequent AoE attack capabilities, particularly follow-up attacks, which efficiently generate stacks.

Herta’s bonus ability, Message From Beyond the Veil, boosts all allies’ Crit DMG by 80% when paired with another Erudition character, making her ideal for duo DPS setups. Below are top team pairings to maximize Herta’s unique playstyle.

Herta + Jade + Robin + Lingsha

Optimal Herta Premium Team Composition

The strongest lineup for Herta at launch includes Jade, Robin, and Lingsha, each complementing her kit perfectly. Herta relies on allies with frequent AoE attacks, and Jade, an Erudition character, excels as her ideal partner. Jade’s quick follow-up attacks and buffs pair seamlessly with Herta’s stacking mechanics, especially when Herta is targeted as a Debt Collector, triggering Jade’s follow-ups rapidly.

For the remaining slots, a buffer support and a sustain character are crucial. Lingsha is the top sustain choice, maintaining high HP for allies, which is vital as Herta’s HP drains periodically as the Debt Collector. Lingsha’s AoE follow-up attacks also contribute to stack generation. Aventurine is a viable alternative, offering strong shielding, though his bouncing follow-up attack is less consistent than Lingsha’s AoE. Other sustain options like Huo Huo or Fu Xuan provide valuable support, focusing more on buffs than frequent attacks.

In the buffer support role, Robin shines by enhancing follow-up attacks, providing general DMG buffs, and advancing allies’ turns, which is critical in turn-sensitive endgame content. If Robin is unavailable, Sunday offers strong single-target buffs, while Ruan Mei provides versatile support. These options are SP-efficient, ensuring Herta can consistently use her Skill.

Optimal Herta F2P Team Composition

For a free-to-play option, Herta pairs effectively with Herta, Remembrance Trailblazer, and Gallagher. Among Erudition characters, Herta is highly synergistic after Jade, allowing players to field both versions of Herta together. While Herta’s follow-up attacks rely on enemies’ HP dropping below 50%, limiting her frequency compared to Jade, the duo still excels at stacking Interpretation. Serval is a solid 4-star alternative, with her AoE attacks aligning well with Herta’s stacking mechanics.

Remembrance Trailblazer is a great third slot, especially in Ice DPS-focused content. Even outside such scenarios, their summon, Mem, deals True DMG when charged and boosts allies’ Crit DMG, adding valuable utility. Pela is a strong substitute, offering debuffs, SP-positive playstyle, and AoE attacks. Tingyun, another F2P option, provides ATK and Energy buffs but lacks AoE, making her less effective for stack generation.

Gallagher fills the final slot as a flexible sustain option. His SP-positive playstyle and AoE Ultimate deliver consistent value, though the choice of healer depends on players’ available options.
