Hearthstone enthusiasts, get ready for an epic crossover with the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, launching on January 21. This Mini-Set is the largest in Hearthstone's history, boasting an impressive 49 new cards. It's a thrilling blend of class cards, multi-class StarCraft faction cards, and a unique factionless neutral Legendary card, making it a must-have for any player looking to expand their deck.
The excitement began during the Warcraft Direct on November 13, 2024, where Hearthstone first teased the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set. This set is part of The Great Dark Beyond expansion and marks a significant crossover with Blizzard's beloved yet underappreciated science fiction RTS, StarCraft. Initially, only basic details were shared, but now, with the full reveal, players can dive into the specifics of what this Mini-Set offers.
Heroes of StarCraft is not your average Mini-Set; it contains 11 more cards than usual, totaling 49. Each Hearthstone class receives three new cards, while the three StarCraft factions—Zerg, Protoss, and Terran—are represented by five cards each, tailored to specific classes. One of these faction cards is a Legendary for each faction. Additionally, the Mini-Set includes a neutral Legendary card, Grunty, rounding out the collection. Hearthstone has already showcased some of these cards, with more reveals scheduled in the week leading up to the launch.
The Zerg cards, available to Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock, focus on summoning numerous Zerglings and leveraging the Hydralisk to deal damage based on the swarm's size. Meanwhile, the Protoss cards for Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue emphasize mana cheating, allowing players to cast high-cost cards like the Carrier more efficiently. The Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior classes will benefit from the Starship mechanic introduced in The Great Dark Beyond, with new Starship Pieces and strategies to launch multiple Starships, including a special Mech-type Starship.
While the larger size of the Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set comes with a higher price tag, it's still accessible to all players. You can acquire a full playset for $20 or 2500 gold, which is $5 and 500 gold more than typical Mini-Sets. For collectors, the all-Golden version is available for $80 or 12,000 gold, a slight increase from the usual $70 and 10,000 gold. If you're interested in specific factions, you can purchase just the Protoss, Terran, or Zerg cards for $10 or 1200 gold.
To celebrate the launch, Hearthstone is hosting two exciting streamed events. StarCast, on January 23 at 10 AM PST, will feature StarCraft legends TrumpSC and Day9 playing with the new cards. Following that, HearthCraft on January 24 at 9 AM PST will see Hearthstone community creators representing each faction in competitive matches and mini-games. By watching these events on Twitch, fans can earn two normal and two Golden The Great Dark Beyond packs, so don't miss out on this opportunity to grab some free cards.
