Two GTA Titles Are Leaving Netflix Games Next Month

Netflix Games is losing some major titles next month: Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City are leaving the platform on December 13th. This isn't a surprise; Netflix licenses games just like movies and TV shows, and these licenses are expiring. A "Leaving Soon" tag will alert subscribers before they disappear.

Why the Departure? License Expiration

The games were added to Netflix Games exactly one year ago, marking the end of the initial 12-month agreement between Netflix and Rockstar Games. After December 13th, Netflix subscribers will no longer have access.

If you're currently enjoying the mayhem of Liberty City or the neon-drenched streets of Vice City, you'll need to finish up quickly. However, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas remains available on the service.

Where to Play Next?

Don't worry, you can still experience these classic titles! The Definitive Editions of Grand Theft Auto III and Vice City are available for purchase on the Google Play Store for $4.99 each, or the entire trilogy for $11.99.

Unlike the abrupt removal of some games in the past (like Samurai Shodown V and WrestleQuest), Netflix is giving players advance notice. This is somewhat ironic, considering the GTA trilogy significantly boosted Netflix Games subscriptions in 2023.

Future Possibilities?

Rumors suggest Rockstar and Netflix are collaborating on future projects, potentially bringing remastered versions of Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and even Chinatown Wars to the platform. Let's hope these rumors prove true!
