God of War Studio Teases New Sci-Fi Project

Whispers of a new, unannounced project from Santa Monica Studio, the minds behind God of War, are circulating. A recent update from a key developer sheds light on this intriguing possibility.

Glauco Longhi, a veteran character artist and developer, hints at a new IP in his LinkedIn profile.

A Sci-Fi Speculation

Longhi, who rejoined Santa Monica Studio earlier this year, describes his role as overseeing character development for an "unannounced project." His previous work includes significant contributions to God of War (2018) and God of War Ragnarök. His LinkedIn profile states he's "Supervising/Directing Character development on an unannounced project, and also helping the studio to continually push and raise the bar on Character Development for videogames."

Adding fuel to the fire, Cory Barlog, creative director of the 2018 God of War reboot, previously indicated the studio was working on multiple projects. Furthermore, Santa Monica Studio's recent recruitment drive, including searches for a character artist and tools programmer, points to an expanding team and a project in active development.

Unconfirmed Sci-Fi Whispers

While speculation points towards a new sci-fi IP, potentially helmed by God of War 3's creative director, Stig Asmussen, no official confirmation exists. Sony's trademark of "Intergalactic The Heretic Prophet" earlier this year adds to the intrigue, though details remain scarce. Past rumors of a cancelled PS4 sci-fi project from the studio further fuel the ongoing speculation.
