God of War Ragnarok Marks 20th Anniversary with Dark Odyssey Cosmetic Update Next Week

Sony and game developer Santa Monica Studio have unveiled the Dark Odyssey collection, an exciting update for God of War Ragnarök that is set to launch next week. This update introduces a range of in-game equipment with a striking black-and-gold theme inspired by one of the franchise's most iconic outfits.

In a detailed PlayStation.Blog post, Sony outlined its plans to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the God of War series. The Dark Odyssey collection is a standout feature, offering a free update for all God of War Ragnarök players on both PlayStation 5 and PC, scheduled for release on March 20.

The update brings a sleek, black-and-gold aesthetic to Kratos and his companions as they navigate the realms of Norse mythology. Both Atreus and Freya will receive their own unique cosmetic sets, along with various shields and weapons for the player to customize.

The highlight of the Dark Odyssey collection is undoubtedly the new appearance and armor set for Kratos, reminiscent of a skin previously exclusive to players who conquered God of War 2 on God Mode difficulty. Players can access this content by opening any Lost Items chest in the base game or immediately in the roguelike Valhalla mode post-update. Additionally, the update will introduce a much-requested feature allowing players to customize the appearance of Kratos' weapons without impacting their abilities.
